Corridors of light
光の通り道

現在作曲中のオペラ「雪の女王」の１幕からのメロディーを使い、作品にしました。このシーンでは、カイという少年が雪の国へ連れ去れてしまいます。題名は、「空間が歪んで開き、まぶしい光が現れ、カイを雪の国（「黄泉の国」へ連れ去る）」という筋書きからつけられました。

The piece uses several melodies from my Opera, "The Snow Queen", on which I am working now. In this scene, the boy Kay is taken away to the snow land. The title, Corridors of Light, hints at the plot, for when Kay is taken away to the Snow Land, a warp or a hole in the space appears together with a dazzling light.

Mari Takano

桐朋学園大学作曲科卒業後、フライブルク音楽大学大学院でブライアン・ファニハウに、ハンブルク音楽大学大学院でジェルジ・リゲティに作曲を師事、修士取得。日本音楽コンクール、入野賞、シュトットガルト州作曲賞など受賞多数。現在、桐朋学園芸術短期大学、文教大学講師。2012年1月にはセカンド作品集CD「LigAlien」がBis社よりリリースされた。

After completing composition studies at the Toho Gakuen School of Music, Mari Takano went on to study in Germany in Freiburg, under Brian Ferneyhough, and in Hamburg, under Gyorgy Ligeti. Mari Takano has been awarded numerous prizes such as the Irino Prize, the prize at the Music Competition of Japan (composition division) and the Composition Prize of the City of Stuttgart. Her second CD, "LigAlien", was released by BIS in 2011. Mari Takano currently teaches as an assistant lecturer at the Toho Junior College of Music, and at Bunkyo University.

Overburden is inspired by a series of images of Australian mine-scapes taken by Canadian photographer Edward Burtinsky. The material and form of the piece emulate aspects of Burtinsky's work: a sense of scale which is at once immense and minute with order created from disorder by the recurrence of like material. ...

Lisa Cay Miller
リサ・ケイ＝ミラー

作風は、ジャズ、現代音楽、自由な即興に対する興味を汲み、活気に満ち機知に富む。
グリーン・アイディアズ・レコード社からリリースされた二枚のCDはいずれも好評を博す。ブリティシュ・コロンビア大学にて作曲の博士課程を修了。過去にサンフランシスコ州立大学、マギル大学、カルガリー大学で学び、ニューヨークでジャズピアノの修行をする。

Lisa Miller's performance and composition style combines her interest in jazz, modern composition, and free improvisation in a vibrant and challenging context, using the improvisatory talents of the members of her ensembles, and her knowledge of contemporary practices.Her CDs, The lisa miller octet: Sleep Furiously, The music of lisa miller: Q and The lisa miller Trio: open have received rave international reviews. Lisa Miller completed a Doctorate in music composition from the University of British Columbia. She has studied composition at San Francisco State University, McGill University and the University of Calgary, and learnt jazz piano in New York City.
