Prosody of Penumbrae
影のプロソディ

小春日和の淡い光の中、石巻の海は遠くまで輝いていた。あの地震から半年余。地元の漁師達と車座になって語らい、作業を手伝い、笑い合う。絶えることのない笑い声。ただ、背後には、凄まじい破壊の跡がどこまでも拡がっていた ・・ 今、ささやかなこの小品が、少しでも漁師達のあの笑い声に近づいて欲しい、そう願っている。

The sea in Ishinomaki was shining. It had been more than half a year since that earthquake occurred. While helping the fishermen there, we laughed and laughed. But behind us, there were dreadfully devastated landscapes over great distances ・・ I hope with all my heart that my new piece will approach, even slightly, the laughter of the fishermen, and if possible, the laughter of all the victims.

BIOGRAPHY

Shu Ehara

東京芸術大学音楽学部楽理科卒。作曲を独習。2008年 第77回日本音楽コンクール作曲部門第１位 明治安田賞受賞。2009年 Egidio Carella国際作曲コンクール オーケストラ部門第３位(1位なし)。

Shu Ehara studied musicology at Tokyo University of the Arts. After graduating, he learned composition by himself. He won the first prize and Meiji-Yasuda Award at the 77th Music competition of Japan Awards in 2008, and the third prize(no first prize was awarded) at "Egidio Carella" International Composition Competition for orchestra work section in 2009.

...１０年前にささやかに始まったこのシンプルな作品が、今も変わらぬものであってほしい。私自身もわずかな存在ながら、応援したい。大切な目的のもとmmm... が始めたヒバリが人々の注目を集め、人が集うコミュニティーとして発展することを。そして、日本が力強く慈悲のもと新たなスタートをきることを願っている。

...I hope this music is now what it was ten years ago: a humble work, with humble beginnings. I, too, am humbled. By all that has done in turning people's attention to such an important cause. By the musical community that has kept the Hibari Project alive and flourishing. And by the nation of Japan, whose strength and compassion offers its own new beginning.

Aaron Helgeson
アーロン ヘルゲソン

1982年オレゴン州生まれ。演奏会音楽、シアター音楽を作曲し、特に聴覚を刺激する音楽や楽器奏法を駆使した作品を発表。作品はベルリン、ストックホルム、ニューヨーク、シカゴ、セントポール、ロサンゼルスなどで演奏された。オーバリン音楽院卒業後、カリフォルニア大学サンディエゴ校にて学ぶ。2010年から2011年にオーバリン音楽院にて作曲科の客員助教授をつとめた。

Aaron Helgeson (b. 1982, Eugene OR) is an internationally performed composer of concert and theatrical music whose work explores the poetic boundaries of musical perception and instrumental technique. Having written for acclaimed soloists and ensembles including the Arditti String Quartet, Susan Narucki, chamber sextet Echoi, and Berlin PianoPercussion, his music has been performed at venues in Berlin, Metz, Stockholm, New York, Chicago, St Paul, Los Angeles, and beyond. Helgeson holds degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and UC San Diego, where he studied with Roger Reynolds. In 2010-2011, he returned to Oberlin as Visiting Assistant Professor of Composition.
