...オブシディアン (黒曜石) の深みのある黒ずみの美しさは、災害後の余波の悲しみと高潔を映しているように思えました。また、美しく生命力にあふれている素材オブシディアンは、他の素材よりもより顕著に、復興にむけた努力をする人々の心を鼓舞するような気がしたのです。

...Furthermore, its dark, often sombre beauty is an apt reflection of the grief and nobility so evident in the catastrophes' aftermath. And perhaps most significantly, the fact a material so aesthetically vital could spring from mass destruction speaks to the hope at the heart of any recovery effort.

BIOGRAPHY

Nicholas Vines
ニコラス ヴァインズ

作品はこれまでに多種多様な演奏団体より演奏される。オーストラリア現代曲専門の機関のほか、フェイバー・ミュージック、アレクサンダーストリートからも楽譜を出版。カリサンピアン・コンソート、PARMAのCDに作品を収録。2007年ハーヴァード大学博士課程修了。ハーヴァード大学ならびにマサチューセッツ工科大学(MIT)にて教える。シドニー・グラマー・スクール芸術科長。

The works of Nicholas Vines have been performed and commissioned by such organisations as Alarm Will Sound, BMOP, the BT Scottish Ensemble, ChamberMade Opera, Guerilla Opera, Firebird Ensemble, the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. His works are published by Faber Music, the Australian Composers Online Project, Alexander Street Press and the Australian Music Centre. A CD of Vines's compositions is in development with Callithumpian Consort and PARMA Recordings. After graduating in 2007 with a PhD from Harvard University, Vines taught theory and composition there and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was recently appointed Artistic Director of Music at Sydney Grammar School.

ポエム

...アーネスト・ショーソンの「ポエム」のように激しい夢であったとしても、悪夢にならない程度にバランスを保つよう、常に心がけ作曲した。突然日本で起きた恐ろしい地震、日本に住む人々、予期できぬ自然の力を思い、筆舌にし難い思いを曲に込めた。

...The piece always seeks for a balance not to become a nightmare, even it could be a harsh dream (like the story behind Ernest Chaussons Poème). In connection to the sudden dreadful earthquakes shocking Japan the piece tries to feel for its inhabitants, shows the unpredictable force of nature and the resulting speechlessness

Thomas Nathan Krueger
トマス ナタン クリューガー

1986年ザクセン＝アンハルト州生まれ。グラーツ音楽大学にてベアト・フラーに師事。フェアラーク・ノイエ・ムジークより作品を出版。ドイツ国立学術財団奨学金を受ける。2010年フランツリスト賞受賞。マルカス・レオソンと共同制作ほか、作品はシュターツカペレ・ハレ／ザーレ、マインゲスト四重奏団などに演奏されている。

Thomas Nathan Krueger was born in Sangerhausen (Germany) in 1986. From February to July 2011 he studied in the class of Beat Furrer at the University of Music and performing Arts in Graz/Austria. His music is published by Verlag Neue Musik Berlin. Since 2010 Thomas Nathan Krueger is scholarship holder by the German National Academic Foundation. In addition to several composition-prizes he also won the Franz-Liszt-Prize 2010. He worked with designated musicians like the percussionist Markus Leoson and his music is played by ensembles like Staatskapelle Halle/Saale and Minguet-Quartett.
