野良犬
Stray Dog

ヒバリプロジェクトのために書かれたきわめて短い作品。題名は戦後の黒澤映画のそれに示唆されており、奮闘する日本、惨状と苦しむ姿、痛々しくも古くからの姿への再構築へ向けもがくさまが描写されている。

Stray Dog is a very short piece written for the Hibari project. The title alludes to the Kurosawa post war film, where he depicts a struggling Japan, still suffering from the devastation, painfully reconstructing its ancient ethical structures.

パブロ・オルティス
Pablo Ortiz

カリフォルニア大学デーヴィス校作曲科教授。これまでクーセヴィツキー財団、メキシコーアメリカ文化財団、Gerbode基金、Terezin基金からの委嘱を受ける。2008年アメリカ文学技術アカデミーよりアカデミーアワードを受賞。最近では、カタロニア国立管弦楽団、Kovacik-Dann-Karttunenトリオにより作品が演奏されたり、マドリッド・ソフィア王妃芸術センターでも新曲を発表。

Pablo Ortiz teaches Composition at the University of California, Davis. Major commissioners include the Koussevitzky Foundation for the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Fideicomiso para la cultura Mexico-US to write children's songs, the Gerbode Foundation for Chanticleer and the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, the Terezin Foundation for Dawn Upshaw. In 2008 he received an Academy Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Recent premieres include Suomalainen tango for orchestra, by the Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya, Tango Futurista for intonarumori conducted by Luciano Chessa, and Trois tangos en marge by the Kovacik-Dann-Karttunen trio at the Museo Nacional Reina Sofia in Madrid.

TIDE –requiem for victims-
潮流-犠牲者のための鎮魂歌-

このフルートとピアノ為のデュオ曲は3.11東日本大震災の犠牲者のための鎮魂歌として作曲されました。フルートによるホイッスル・トーンが海を渡る風のように、またピアノの低音域の響きが深い海底をイメージさせるかもしれませんが、もちろん所謂、描写的な音楽ではありません。曲全体は断片的な音の形、そして旋律的な動きから構成されています。

This piece was composed as a requiem for victims from the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11th. The flute's whistle tones might sound like wind over the sea and the sound of the piano's low registers might bring to mind the bottom of the sea, but it is not simply a descriptive work. The piece consists of fragmentary sound motives and melodic movements.

田中 聰
Satoshi Tanaka

東京音楽大学作曲科卒業、同大学研究生修了。1984年国際ガウデアムス現代音楽週間入選、1988年第9回入野賞受賞。2004年日米芸術交流プログラムの招聘により渡米。サンフランシスコにて作曲レクチャーを行う。ソニック・アーツから楽譜を出版。2011年サントリー芸術財団サマーフェスティバルにてオーケストラ作品「沈黙の時」が日本初演された

Satoshi Tanaka graduated from the Tokyo College of Music with bachelor and masters degrees. In 1984, his work was premiered during the International Gaudeamus Music Week. Tanaka was the recipient of the 1988 Irino Prize. In 2004 Tanaka was selected for the Japan-United States Arts Program by the Asian Cultural Council, which allowed him stay in both New York and San Francisco. During his stay he gave a presentation of his compositions. Two of his pieces are published by Sonic Arts. In 2011 his orchestra work, The Hour of Silence had its Japanese premiere in the Suntory Foundation for Arts Summer Music Festival.
